I recently got back into retro games, and more specifically, how to get the "best" image quality out of them. I found this series on youtube by My Life in Gaming, called the RGB Masterclass series, where they look at different devices and consoles and try to get the best quality out of 240p res signals. They go into how to get them onto HD devices and even how they look on old CRT or PVM montiors. Anyone else really into this?

You can check the show out at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjtD1mOZlPc&t=1837s

Never went full nerd when it comes to monitors and retro games.

I did, however, get a surprisingly good LED monitor for my MiST (a fpga-based retro system). Read on some Amiga forums that the BenQ BL702A can handle 15khz modes, so I bought one. Works like a charm. Everything (on the Amiga) is synced to the monitor output, so smooth authentic scrolling etc. Not quite CRT, but closest I've seen on a modern monitor!

(cont.) You just have to fiddle with the pixel clock and phase settings, and… voila! No moiré effect, no weird artefacts etc.

Super fun if you're into classic adventure games, like Monkey Island, Maniac Mansion etc. Quite cheap too!
